Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness and Human Resources
I have a passion to see every individual excel in the strengths and gifts God has given them. When I started my career in education, I had an experienced teacher tell me that all I had to do to be a successful teacher was to follow the textbook—“never stray from the textbook!” As an educator, it never occurred to me that God called me to teach a textbook. I wasn’t called to teach English, math, or science either. I was called to teach STUDENTS through the various subjects. I was called to help them learn how God made them special and unique individuals and guide them to build on their own strengths and talents. When I became a university supervisor for student teachers, I noticed that I taught adults the same way. (It’s amazing how many adults have no problem listing all their “deficits,” but they struggle to tell you two things they do really well. That saddens my heart!)
When I meet people, Ephesians 2:10 runs through my head just like this…. “For (they) are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has prepared beforehand that (they) should walk in them.” Then I can’t wait to discover what is special and distinct about them, the path the Lord has paved for them, and how they will use their amazing gifts along that path!

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT WORKING AT TKU?
Besides working with some amazing people, I LOVE listening to the students and hearing how God is working in their lives. What am I thinking when I’m listening to their stories? …. “For (they) are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has prepared beforehand that (they) should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
