At first, Michael Leslie didn’t want to come to The King’s University. “I tried to avoid it as much as possible,” the Longview native said. “I had always felt the need to pursue a biblical degree, but avoided it due to fear of rejection.”
God wouldn’t let him off the hook.
“I received a total of 11 prophetic words about attending, eight of which came after I applied at TKU,” he exclaimed. “God totally guided me to the DFW area for this school and I am so glad I listened to Him.”
Michael, who says his passions are Jesus, loving his amazing wife, drinking coffee, and listening to hip-hop, also loves studying Scripture. “I realized my love for studying and breaking down Scripture a couple of years before attending TKU,” he said. “Tyler Maxey (TKU Director of Admissions) showed me I could take my love and put it towards a degree, which made me feel like college might actually be enjoyable.”
The Biblical and Theological Studies major says his classes with Dr. Kerry Wood were especially enjoyable. “He is the most amazing professor I have ever had,” Michael exclaimed. “”He teaches in a way that pushes us to see God for who He is.”
Michael has a strong desire to take what he’s learned and pay it forward. “I have a passion to teach my generation, but more so the coming generation, about the Lord and His awesomeness, just like it talks about in Psalm 78,” he said.
Michael is a bit biased about TKU when it comes to his words to any prospective students. “While there are many other seminaries and Bible colleges in the country that you could attend, The King’s University is the best,” he said. “TKU is Holy Spirit-minded, student focused, and rejoices in success.”
