TKU Announces Inaugural Media and Worship Arts Summit

The King’s University announces the first ever Media and Worship Arts Summit. This two-day event (June 15-16) features Grammy nominated and Dove Award winner Cody Carnes, NBC’s The Voice Director and two-time Emmy winner Alan Carter, and Gateway Church worship leader Rebecca Hart. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience powerful times of worship led by TKU students with Rebecca Hart, learn from industry professionals in breakout sessions such as songwriting, live production, and media workshops, and interact with TKU’s staff, faculty, and current students in the Media and Worship Arts programs.

“We want to show how media supports worship and worship supports media,” says Dr. Mitch Land, Dean of Media and Worship Arts. “They work hand in hand.”

TKU’s Media and Worship Arts programs prepare students for careers in worship, multi-media technical arts, and storytelling. Helping students learn and sharpen their crafts in these areas has given TKU the unique opportunity to train the next generation of ministers to reach people through music, storytelling, social media, and audio/visual arts. A $20 registration fee includes workshops with Media and Worship faculty, breakfast, lunch, and snacks.

“When I was brought in to establish the Media Arts program, I based the vision of it on Isaiah 6, which says, ‘I saw the Lord sitting on the throne, high and lifted up,’ says Dr. Land. “And when Isaiah was purified during his worship of God, he was prepared to tell the story. What I’m saying is we’re all about storytelling but telling the gospel across multiple platforms.”
