Scholarships

The King’s University Office of Student Financial Services serves to assist all current and prospective students in securing financial assistance for their college dreams. Scholarships are available from a variety of sources, and are a great way to help fund your education. Scholarship recipients are decided by the scholarship committee. The committee members are selected from various areas of the university to ensure equal representation across various institutional functions. To the greatest extent possible, the voting members are selected with respect to gender, age, ethnicity, and race to ensure there is non-discriminatory selection practice.


The 2024-2025 application period is closed.

Scholarship Application Instructions

READ CAREFULLY:

  • Each student may submit only one application per open application period each year.
  • Students may apply for any scholarship for which they qualify.
  • Please see the college-level sections below for the requirements of each scholarship.
  • Students may apply for any and all scholarships for which they qualify.

ESSAYS:

  • Essay(s) must be prepared in advance of application completion.
  • Essay(s) must meet topic and word count requirements.
  • Each essay must include the student’s name and the scholarship name at the top of each page.
  • Attach essay(s) to the application. Do not send them to TKU separately.

VIDEOS:

  • Videos(s) must be prepared in advance of application completion.
  • All video links must be submitted as YouTube videos.
  • Video(s) must be made according to the requirements of each scholarship.

LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION:

  • Letters must be received by March 31, 2024.
  • Each letter is required to include the student’s name and student ID.
  • Format preference is a PDF attachment to the email.
  • Authors of the letters must email their letters directly to TKU using scholarships@tku.edu.

Anna Hayford Scholarship (Undergraduate Award)

Anna Hayford is the late wife of our founder, Pastor Jack Hayford. “Anna sensed God’s call to ministry as a child, becoming an effective and beloved spiritual leader. Pastor Jack, who served as Foursquare’s president, once called her ‘the fountainhead’ of his life.” -Foursquare News

  • Female student pursuing an undergraduate degree who is currently serving in ministry.
  • All undergraduate programs.
  • Required minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
  • Requires enrollment in a minimum of six (6) credits per term.
  • Requires two (2) letters of recommendation.
  • Requires 250-500-word essay, topic: Anna Hayford felt called to ministry from a young age; how do you feel called to ministry and how are you currently serving?

Austin Mitchell Land Media Arts Scholarship

  • For Media Arts program (or successor) students only.
  • Required minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0.
  • Minimum enrollment of twelve (12) credit hours per term.
  • Must provide a 100-200-word statement describing financial need.

Fred and Patti Taylor Scholarship

  • All undergraduate and graduate students passionate about worship, restoration, or freedom ministry.
  • Required minimum cumulative GPA: 3.2.
  • Requires enrollment in a minimum of six (6) credits per term.
  • Required 2-minute maximum YouTube video topic: Describe how the training at TKU impacts your calling to minister to hurting people or pursue a ministry of worship.

Hebrews 11:6 Scholarship

  • All undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Required minimum cumulative GPA: 3.00.
  • Requires enrollment in a minimum of six (6) credits per term.
  • Preference is given to international students.
  • Must provide a 100-200-word statement describing financial need.
  • Required 250-500-word essay, topic: How will receiving the Hebrews 11:6 Scholarship enable you to fulfill your calling at The King’s University?

Israel’s Hope Scholarship

  • All undergraduate and graduate students in MJS programs or concentrations..
  • Required minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0.
  • Requires enrollment in a minimum of twelve (12) credits per term.
  • Must provide a 100-200-word statement describing financial need.
  • Required approximately 500-word essay, topic: Please tell us about your current spiritual walk in both a personal and ministry context.
  • Required YouTube 1-minute video topic: How does your calling relate to TKU’s Statement on the Church and the Jewish People?
  • Consent to allow TKU to use video in promotional materials.

LaVerne Clifton Blessing Scholarship

  • Required minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0.
  • Requires enrollment in a minimum of twelve (12) credits per term.
  • Preference is given to students enrolled in a Worship Program.
  • Student must have completed less than 120 credit hours toward a bachelor’s degree.
  • Must provide a 100-200-word statement describing financial need.
  • Requires two (2) letters of recommendation.
  • Required 250-500-word essay, topic: As we know, worship can mean many different things and can be done in a variety of ways. By participating in the worship leadership program, corporate worship will be a major focus. Explain to us why the study of ‘corporate worship leadership’ is important to you.

Rejoicing in Real Life Scholarship

  • For undergraduate Sophomores or higher and graduate students.
  • Requires enrollment in a minimum of six (6) credits per term.
  • Required minimum cumulative GPA: 3.2.
  • Required 250-500-word essay, topic: How are you committed to spreading the Gospel through your ministry?

Sam Middlebrook Memorial Scholarship

  • All undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Required minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0.
  • Requires enrollment in a minimum of six (6) credits per term.
  • Required 250-500-word essay, topic: As a Spirit-filled evangelical institution of higher education, The King’s University is dedicated to the preparation of men and women for effective leadership and Christ-like servanthood in the global community. Describe three (3) ways in which TKU is preparing you to be a Christ-like servant and leader.

Sherry Rostek Memorial Scholarship

  • Female student.
  • All undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Required minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0.

TKU Legacy Scholarship

  • All undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Required minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0.
  • Requires enrollment in a minimum of six (6) credits per term.

    The Amy Cook “Goodness of God” Scholarship

    • Preference will be given to single moms in any program or students in Messianic Jewish Studies (MJS) programs.
    • Required minimum cumulative GPA: 3.2.
    • Requires enrollment in a minimum of six (6) credits per term.
    • Required 250-500-word essay, topic: How is TKU preparing you to tell people about the goodness of God?

    The Pastoral Legacy Scholarship

    • Adult Learner Students Only (25+ years).
    • All undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs.
    • Required minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0.
    • Requires two (2) letters of recommendation.
    • Requires enrollment in a minimum of six (6) credits per term.
    • Required 250-500-word essay, topic: Share one or two situations that you have overcome in your life and how they have impacted your call to shepherd others and ministry.

    Why TKU Scholarship

    • Preference is given to students enrolled at the Southlake campus.
    • Student must have completed less than 120 credit hours toward a bachelor’s degree.
    • Undergraduate students only.
    • Required minimum cumulative GPA: 3.5.
    • Requires enrollment in a minimum of twelve (12) credits per term.
    • Required 250-500-word essay, topic: What does TKU mean to me?” or “Why TKU will make a difference to me in the future?”

    William Joseph Seymour Scholarship

    This scholarship is intended to help foster his legacy of Spirit-empowered diversity in love and to honor and support people of color – especially Black/African American students – through the opportunity of higher education.

    • Preference to a student of color.
    • New incoming Freshmen or transfer students: must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 or a minimum cumulative transfer GPA of 3.0.
    • Returning students: Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
    • Requires two (2) letters of recommendation.
    • Requires enrollment in a minimum of six (6) credits per term.

        • Requires full-time enrollment of 9 credit hours each term.
        • Required 250-500-word essay, topic: Explain why you are pursuing a graduate degree, how that is increasing your ministry effectiveness, and how it is facilitating personal growth and renewal.

                  Scott Bauer Memorial Scholarship

                  This scholarship was established by friends, members of The Church on the Way, and The King’s University in honor of Dr. Scott G. Bauer. Reverend Bauer served in a number of key positions including the senior pastor of The Church on the Way, along with chairman emeritus and founding member of the Board of Trustees, first president, and faculty member of The King’s University. His servant leadership and influence were exemplary both in the local church and at the University.

                  • Incoming Doctor of Ministry students only.
                  • Required minimum cumulative GPA: 3.25.
                  • Requires three (3) letters of recommendation.
                  • Minimum of 6 bridgework credits or full-time doctoral enrollment each term.

                      Academic Achievement Scholarships

                      Academic scholarships are made available to first-time freshmen and transferring undergraduate students. Recipients for these awards are made by committee recommendation during the admission process, so students are not required to complete a scholarship application. If a student is selected for one of these awards, they will be notified via email.

                      President’s Scholarship

                      • Incoming undergraduate students only
                      • Award Amount: $3000/year
                      • ACT: 30
                      • SAT: 1400
                      • GPA: 4.0+

                      Transfer Student Scholarship

                      • Incoming undergraduate students only
                      • 12+ hours of transferable credit from an accredited university
                      • Award Amount: $1500/year
                      • GPA: 3.0

                      The scholarships listed below are not voted on by a committee, but application is required to be awarded. For incoming students, the applications will be sent to you via email upon admission to TKU if you are eligible. For continuing students, the applications will be sent to you via email each year. The deadline to complete these applications is usually the end of the first week of classes.

                      Blessed Life Scholarship

                      • Required Minimum GPA: 2.0
                      • Open to on-ground and online students
                      • Award Amount: Full-Time Student – $1500; Part-Time Student – $750

                      Gordon and Freda Lindsay Memorial Scholarship
