SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS– The King’s University and Seminary is pleased to announce the appointment of Reverend David Lockwood as the new Associate Director of the Doctor of Ministry (DMin) Program. David brings a wealth of experience, pastoral insight, and cross-cultural expertise to the role, promising to enrich the lives and ministries of current and future DMin students.

Rev. Lockwood’s diverse background spans two decades of service across multiple ministry and leadership contexts. He served eight years as a military chaplain in the United States Navy, providing spiritual guidance and support to service members and their families. His commitment to holistic ministry is further reflected in his experience as a hospital chaplain, where he gave compassionate care in critical moments of need.

A seasoned church leader, David has served as associate pastor and worship leader in two congregations, helping shepherd faith communities with a pastoral heart and a commitment to spiritual formation and discipleship. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to found a non-profit leadership foundation and a for-profit automotive business, blending marketplace skills and missional vision.

Adding to his global perspective, Rev. Lockwood served as a missionary in Mexico, where he developed ministry partnerships with Spanish-speaking communities. He is fluent in Spanish, a skill that enhances his ability to connect with diverse populations both locally and internationally.

“David embodies the kind of integrated ministry leadership we strive to cultivate in our  DMin program,” said Dr. Dan Call, Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program. “His experience, academic excellence (Master of Divinity with Honors and Current DMin student in dissertation phase at The King’s University) and global worldview will bring a rich, multi-dimensional perspective to our students and faculty.”

Dr. Jon Huntzinger, Dean of The King’s Seminary, writes,

“We are glad to have David Lockwood join our faculty at The King’s to work with our Doctor of Ministry students. David’s ability to translate biblical and theological truths into clear and practical ministry that makes sense to people is a gift.  Our students will be enriched and our doctoral program made stronger because of his presence with us.”

“We are blessed to have Rev. Lockwood on our resident faculty team,” Dr. Linda Hoover, the Chief Academic Officer, writes. “He has the heart of a teacher-pastor and his extensive experience in the academy and the church will provide valuable guidance and perspective for our DMin students preparing for ministry.”

David’s appointment reflects The King’s University’s commitment to academic excellence, spiritual formation, and leadership development that is grounded in real-world experience and global mission.
