In this season of light and promise, we are grateful for the way God continues to lead our students with care and purpose. One particular student’s journey is a powerful reminder that His light is never hidden from those who seek Him.
Brandi Thomas came to The King’s University believing God was leading her into a new chapter.
After a long stretch of restored sight, she believed her healing had come and began coursework at The King’s to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies. Five weeks into her first semester her vision disappeared again. This time it was permanent. Brandi remembers falling to her knees and asking God why He had brought her here. She said, “He told me ‘it is time to go to school and I will not leave you. I will be with you through everything.’”
Her professors watched her faith deepen as she trusted God with every step. Dr. Dan Call shared, “When we stop asking why and start asking what God wants to teach us, everything changes.” He saw Brandi lean into that question and allow God to strengthen her through the trial.
Learning to navigate school without sight felt overwhelming. Brandi said, “I did not even know there were resources for blind people.” The Student Success Center and disability services stepped in with support she did not know to ask for. She said, “For God to put the right people in my life to help me walk in the purpose He has for me is a gift I could never have asked for because I did not know I needed it until I did.”
Her journey continues to inspire those around her. Dr. Jonathan Frazier said, “None of this limits what God can do through her. Because she keeps saying yes to the Lord, there is nothing she cannot do with God in her walk. She is a light in a dark world.”
Brandi’s words say it best. “I do not see with my earthly eyes, but I have vision where I did not have vision before.” She reminds us that God’s light is not limited by what we can see.
If you have been encouraged by Brandi’s story, we hope you will take a moment to hear more.
