Spring 2024 Video Audition Submission Deadline | December 15, 2023
Summer 2024 Video Audition Submission Deadline | April 6, 2024

Record an audition video of yourself using the best audio and video tools you have at your disposal (a laptop with built-in camera and microphone is fine). The audition video should be a single take (no cuts, edits, etc.) in which you:

1. Introduce yourself.

Tell us your name, primary instrument, preferred secondary instrument, and which degree you are auditioning for AWL or BWL. Tell us why you are choosing the worship program at TKU. How did you hear about us? Why do you feel led to study worship leadership?

2. Sing/play the songs from the provided list below.

When finished, upload to YouTube (as unlisted). Copy and paste the link into the “Video Audition Link” field on the audition form found in Step 2. Please make sure this is not Private, as we can’t view it on Private. Here are instructions on uploading a video to YouTube.

Songs:
The recordings and charts to use for all songs can be found in the “vocalists” or “instrumentalists” panels below. Please play/sing along with the recordings provided. You do not need to play and sing at the same time. For instance, if you are a vocalist that also plays guitar, record yourself singing along with the two vocal songs and the pitch-matching sequences and then playing along with either one of the guitar audition songs. Please use the “Record with these files” for the video.

Why an audition?

Because musicianship is one of the pillars of the program, it is important from the start that we have an understanding of your baseline musical abilities. We do not expect everyone entering the program to have had a prior formal training, however, it is important that we can observe a musical ability that can be developed to a high degree of excellence.

Tips:
Sing out strongly from a standing position rather than while sitting down. Sing and worship as if there is no one in the room and there is no camera. Just be yourself.

VOCALISTS
  • Both male and female singers will sing the excerpt from both of these songs, but sing your vocal range’s melody on one song and your vocal range’s harmony on another song.
  • If you are vocalist primarily but also play an instrument, we highly encourage you to audition on your instrument with one of the two songs used to audition your instrument after you have completed your vocal song performances.
    • “Greater Than” – Gateway Worship
    • “How Glorious” – Gateway Worship
