“When you know where your identity stands, everything falls into place,” she explained.
Marie Flores has a passion for people to find their freedom and identity in Christ.
Marie, a third year theology student at The King’s University, says her practicum with Pink, the women’s ministry at Gateway church, taught her a lot about ministering to women’s needs — especially for love and identity.
“I have learned that God’s daughters are truly hurting and they just want to be loved — especially from the woman next to them. The ladies, pastors and leaders of Pink truly love women. They want women to find their identity in Christ, find their identity as His daughter, understanding how God sees the many different hats women juggle and to find restoration woman to woman.”
Marie was surprised when she experienced some restoration and healing of wounds from past relationships during her practicum with Pink.
“I never expected to have a “kairos” moment through my internship,” she exclaimed. “I finished this semester standing firm within my calling that wounds were healed and my ministry will now be stronger because of that internship experience.”
Marie believes the TKU practicum experience is beneficial for the student regardless of what Gateway ministry they work with.
“These pastors and leaders truly have a heart to pass the torch onto the next generation in bringing people to Christ,” she said. I have had the privilege to be involved in two practicums and each one has given me something that I can take with me anywhere I go whether that be at home or international. Even if you are not truly called into that ministry does not mean you cannot learn from (a practicum) in that area. I truly believe, and what I am seeing now is that all ministries tie together some way, somehow.”
